Me! Demenna Milord, LMHC
As a first-generation Haitian American female entrepreneur, I can say that fear has greeted me more than a few times in my life - both personally and professionally. I’ve had a passion for humanity since a child, and I’m grateful to be in a position to not only provide resources and support to my community, but also to help instill hope to other high achieving women of color and BIPOC with anxiety.
I am currently licensed in the state of Florida as a mental health counselor, and I have been providing counseling services since 2014. I have worked in different settings including:
-community mental health: provided group and individual therapy for people who could not afford health insurance
-community mobile crisis: assisted people in immediate mental health crisis, including people struggling with suicidal and homicidal ideation
-adolescent psychiatric hospital: provided group, family, and individual therapy to children ages 6-17 years old.
-substance abuse rehabilitation centers: provided group and individual therapy to adults 18 and older struggling with substance use/abuse, negatively affecting different areas of their life.
-private practice: working with adults, mainly high achieving women of color and BIPOC with anxiety, with a desire to increase their overall health - mind, body, and spirit.
These years of professional experience plus various trainings, have taught me we all are human beings, with different stories, doing the best we can, to navigate our health.
As a therapist, I really like to help my clients understand the importance of total body health. Your body is your first home, and managing and understanding how your body and mind work together can help you become more connected to yourself.
